How does a lifting magnet work?

Many lifting magnets are electromagnets that get their strength from electricity. With the help of electricity, a strong magnetic field is created inside the neodymium magnets which attracts ferromagnetic objects. The magnetic field generated by the lifting magnet is so strong that it can even lift very heavy objects such as iron blocks in industrial plants. To release the object at the intended location, the power supply must be cut.

However, the MaxX lifting magnets from Tecnomagnete work without electricity. The magnetic field of these permanent lifting magnets is activated by turning a lever. The magnetic field is achieved by a flexible arrangement of several magnets. Because they do not require electricity, these lifting magnets are economical and will not drop the load even if the power supply is interrupted.

Which materials can be hoisted with lifting magnets?

To fully utilize the load capacity of the lifting magnet, it is important that the object to be hoisted has a smooth even surface and makes direct contact with the magnet. This allows the magnetic field to optimally penetrate the load. The adhesive force decreases for objects with reduced material thickness, very rough surfaces, rust or uneven shapes and air gaps. In order to lift curved objects, you will therefore need a V-shaped lifting magnet instead of a straight magnet surface area.

It concentrates the magnetic flow in the load, thus holding it steady and preventing the magnetic field from affecting surrounding objects.
