Description
This long AlNiCo rod measures 12 mm x 150 mm and is painted red-green. The poles are on the small circular areas, the north pole is located on the red end. This magnet is great for demonstrating the magnetic field of an oblong magnet.
Almost all magnets on our website are made of NdFeB (neodymium-iron-boron). However, this school magnet with its coloured poles is of a different material, namely AlNiCo (aluminium-nickel-cobalt and iron). AlNiCo is well suited for educational purposes because it is less brittle and therefore less fragile. Though AlNiCo is approx. eight times weaker than NdFeB, it is still much stronger than a ferrite magnet (=refrigerator magnet).
